About Fuel Bank Foundation
To launch Tithe, we decided to go with a charity that addressed a very topical issue - the Fuel Bank Foundation. Endorsed by King Charles himself, Fuel Bank Foundation provides emergency financial support to those unable to pay for their energy bills. Since the end of 2022, they'd seen a 75% increase in demand for support, a figure that we expect to rise further into 2023. Of the people they've supported, 96% were having to choose between heating and eating, and 14% were going without food on a daily basis. Of the people Fuel Bank support, 97% receive same-day support whether through advice or funding, which we love. Worries about spending can be all-consuming, so having this quick relief is invaluable.
Where did the money go?
The largest portion of Fuel Bank's work is directly providing cash-in-hand to those who need it. Simple & direct energy relief to allow people to heat their homes and cook hot food. Alongside this, they estimate that they currently reach around 8-12% of people who need their support. A portion of the donated money also goes into policy & research with the aim of prompting the government into further action if the crisis endures. We believe Fuel Bank's combination of immediate relief provision and longer term policy planning make it a real force for driving long-term change.
Amount Given
£130.96 was the initial donation made to Fuel Bank Foundation. For any more information, feel free to reach out to us or you can read more about Fuel Bank here.
